RESEARCHERS AT WORK

Have you solved the cascade puzzle?

Take a look at the video clip to see Dr. Berger at work.

Are you ready to design a wildlife ecology study? It's time to compare your ideas to the scientists' and analyze real data. Don't worry if your ideas don't exactly match Dr. Berger's-he's had 15 years of experience studying the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem! To figure out how wolves might affect birds, Dr. Berger and his team studied two different areas - one with predators, and one without.

Dr. Berger and his team explored several aspects of the ecosystem to predict how the wolf reintroduction might affect the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem:
How do predators influence the moose, a mostly riparian species?
How do moose affect the willow community structure?
What is the relationship between willow habitat characteristics and bird diversity?

  There are 4 major components:
Study Sites
Moose Density
Willow Sampling
Bird Sampling
