| RETURN OF THE WOLF : INTRODUCTION |
|
 |
 |
 |
Welcome to Yellowstone National Park, where
grizzly bears gallop across green valleys and wolverines skulk
in snow-covered mountains, where bison stampede and moose reign...
What makes Yellowstone a National Park? National parks are designated
by law. Who do you think decided on the boundaries? Read about
the park's establishment. (link
to legislative record)
Wildlife in Yellowstone do not recognize the park boundaries.
Animals move across the legal boundaries and the ecosystem extends
into unprotected lands. So, when we talk about the wildlife
and wild lands of Yellowstone, we're usually referring to more
than just the park itself. |
|
|
 |
| People refer to the larger
ecosystem that includes Yellowstone National Park as the Greater
Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE). |

WHY AM I HERE? |
| |
