Using the interactive nomograph below, students calculate the ideal dissolved oxygen level using salinity and temperature. They can then calculate the percent saturation of dissolved oxygen in the Bronx River.  If the water is less than 50% saturated, fish are less likely to survive.

Try it out. Figure out just how saturated you are. See if there is a problem for fish in the Bronx River.
