In this interactive students throw scented snowballs at moose and observe how long the moose are vigilant. Vigilance simply means that the moose stops eating and pays attention to what’s going on around it. This data is from a location in Alaska where moose and wolves live together. Try throwing some snowballs and see how vigilant moose are when they smell a wolf.

Students then compare these data to places where moose don’t have wolves around. Do you think wolves will be as vigilant?
