Score Sheet

Time to select and rate your species!

In this section, you will focus on two of the species listed, evaluating each one for the five criteria, Area, Habitat use, Vulnerability, Functionality, and Socio-economic importance. For each criteria, you will come up with a total score. Print the score sheet and enter the total score in each box. Then, for each species, sum those totals in the last column.

Click on each column heading (e.g. Area) for information and instructions on evaluating for the criteria.

Click on each candidate species or visit the Resources section to learn more about each species.

Willow discusses the scoring.

Next Steps
Once you have scored your species, you will meet as a class to determine which five species ranked highest across the five criteria.
Plan a presentation to the class to explain how and why you selected your species.
For the next section, you will switch gears and focus on the species the scientists actually selected as landscape species.

Will your landscape species choices match the real scientists'?

Are the candidate species endangered?
